Outreach is an important function of the Church and an important service to the community.

At the Sharpsburg Church of the Brethren we support the Gideons. The Gideons, a non-profit organization founded in 1899, serves as an extended missionary arm of the church. The Gideons sole purpose is to win men, women, boys and girls to a saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ through association, personal testimony, and distributing the Bible in the human traffic lanes and streams of everyday life.

For Thanksgiving and Christmas we make and donate food baskets to needy families in the community. During the year we also provide financial support to our local food bank.

We support the Shepherd Springs Retreat Center. This is a year-round Church of the Brethren camp, retreat and conference center in Sharpsburg, Maryland. Shepherd's Spring, operated by the Mid-Atlantic District Church of the Brethren, is a 220 acre facility. The Center seeks to be a "Source of Renewal Along One's Way" by providing a variety of settings where all persons can grow toward wholeness in relationship to God, Christ, self, and the rest of creation.
